The 5 Stages of Burnout & Adrenal Fatigue
There are 5 recognisable stages of adrenal fatigue and burnout that indicate just how much stress your body is under. Determining where you are at on this scale can help you realise what you need to do to turn things around to restore your inner wellness.
The 5 Stages of Burnout
1. Honeymoon Phase
In this first phase of burnout, you may begin to experience predicted stresses of your job/life.
2. Onset of Stress
You may find your optimism waning, as well as notice common stress symptoms affecting you physically, mentally, or emotionally.
3. Chronic Stress
There is a marked change in your stress levels, going from motivation to experiencing stress on an incredibly frequent basis. You may also experience more intense symptoms than those of stage two. You may be more moody, fatigued, agitated, restless and bodily symptoms of stress are being aggravated.
4. Burn Out
Entering stage four of burnout is where symptoms become critical. Continuing as normal is often not possible, and it’s key that you seek intervention
5. Habitual Burn Out
The symptoms of burnout are so embedded in your life that you are likely to experience a significant physical or emotional problem, as opposed to occasionally experiencing stress or burnout.
